Vatican City

We also went to the Vatican City when we were in Rome. It was actually my dream to go in there and we were so lucky to have been able to go in during such a busy time with such short notice. We had a tour guide come with us that explained so much of the history and the art to us and it made everything so much more interesting!
It was so beautiful to see all the art work and the sculptures. It is unbelievable to think that all of these buildings and places were built so long ago and all this history has been preserved so well. There was so much detailing and precise work on everything we saw.
We started off with a quick little look of the Vatican Gardens. We then went around and walked through some of the exhibition halls and some displays of sculptures. After that we went into the Sistine Chapel. It was so nice to see all the work of Michelangelo. Apparently he was so modest and admitted he was better at sculptures that painted art. But I think that for someone that thought they were not that good at art, he painted some spectacular pieces.
After the Sistine Chapel we went in to St. Peters Basilica, which was the most beautiful of the three Basilicas we saw during our trip. It was soo massive on the inside and I was absolutely blown away. Again, with all the detailing on the art work and the sculptures that were there.
It was such a beautiful day. I was lost for words and in awe!
