A CRAZY DAY

Yesterday was filled with lots of exploring around Singapore. We started off with a presentation at the URA of Singapore. It was really interesting to learn about the single layered government system of Singapore in comparison to say countries such as Australia. I also found it interesting to hear about the different strategies for planning for the future of Singapore in terms of land use optimisation, ageing in place (and ageing in the city) for the ageing population and more efficient public transport systems.
After this presentation, we walked around the city and observed some of the biophlic design principles that have been implemented in the newer buildings such as The Park Hotel on the Pickering. We also went inside and i noticed that this design was carried out through the internal of the building with lots of wooden elements and plants inside the hotel lobby.
We then continued walking through Clarke Bridge and around the Marina Bay Sands and Gardens By The Bay. I think its safe to say that with all that walking, we were all definitely hungry.
This evening, we went back to Clarke Bridge and walked around some colourful buildings and facades and then headed off to China Town for dinner. It was delicious. The fish was so flavoursome and I even tried bull frog! It tasted a lot like prawns or other sea food. And of course, this was followed by some shopping in the markets.
