10,000 Buddhas

Yesterday we went to the 10,000 Buddhas Monastery in Sha Tin. We had been wanting to go there for quite a while and we finally made it. The day was so perfect, the sun was out and the sky was clear after ages.

After lunch, we made our way to the Monastery. The entrance walk has soo many Buddhas, all with different facial expressions, different ages and looks on them. Some were more serious and others were really fun to pose next to. So of course, we found lots of the funny ones and posed next to them all. I hadn’t actually realised until we got there how many  Buddhas there were.

We then made it up the hill to the Monastery, where we walked around a little more and took pictures. The Buddhism culture is so similar to the Hindu traditions, and I am always reminded of that when I visit the temples here in Hong Kong.

After that, we continued walking up the hill, to find of course, more Buddhas! But it was great fun looking at all of them. We actually climbed so high up, but didn’t realise it because we were distracted by all the different Buddha statues.

We continued to walk around and then decided to walk down the hill through a different route, where there was so much scenery and nature. AND in the forest bit that we were walking down, we heard so much rustling and noises and at first we just thought they were parrots or other big birds. Only through looking really carefully, I realised there were monkeys, and wild monkeys too! It was the highlight of the day. We sat there for so long and looked at them all and they were SOO cute! I did not get any pictures though because I though the camera snaps might scare them away. Anyway, it was a great day and I hope you enjoy the pictures!
